Robert Charles “Bobby” Grove, 67, of Farmville, Virginia, and formerly of Huntingdon, passed away unexpectedly April 7, 2022, at his residence.

Born April 13, 1954, in Huntingdon, he was a son of the late Samuel Calvin Grove and Virginia Marguerite (Brown) Grove.

Bobby is survived by three daughters, Emily Grove and her wife, Frances, Melanie Neumann and Sharon Grove, all of Virginia; and three granddaughters, Riley Grove, Sage Gross and Maya Gross. He is also survived by four siblings, Ronald Grove and his wife, Sandy, of Alexandria, Beverly Caldwell of Huntingdon, Kathy Hagans of Reedsville and Patty Goodman and her husband, Steve, of Huntingdon.

He was preceded in death by three siblings, Richard Allen Grove, Shirley J. (Grove) Wilson, and James C. “Jimmy” Grove in infancy.

He attended Huntingdon public schools and was a 1973 graduate of Huntingdon Area High School.

Bobby entered into the U.S. Army and was called to active duty Oct. 30, 1974, serving with the U.S. Army A Co. 9th Aviation Battalion during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged Nov. 12, 1977, attaining the rank of private first class, and was awarded the Marksmanship Qualification Badge.

He held numerous positions at various companies throughout his life including, the former Owens Corning Fiberglas and FRP Fabrication, both of Huntingdon, the former E.G. Smith Inc. of Norcross, Georgia, National Panel Systems Inc. of Wexford; and was employed by the Southwestern Co. of Charlotte, North Carolina, until his retirement.

Bobby adored spending time with his daughters; and especially loved riding roller-coasters at amusement parks, exploring the mountains on the weekends, and spending time at the family farm with them. He had a passion for farming and working on farm equipment; and was an outdoor enthusiast who enjoyed boating, riding motorcycle, hunting and fishing.

At the request of the family there will be no public viewing or visitation. A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family in Riverview Cemetery, Huntingdon.
